Our Pastor

Terrence Nichols was born in Pelham, Georgia, the middle of five siblings. He recognized his calling into the gospel ministry at an early age and began preaching at the age of 16. The Lord blessed his ministry as he conducted youth revivals and rallies throughout Georgia, Alabama and Florida. On the day that he graduated from High School he received front-page newspaper coverage for also being the commencement speaker at a neighboring high school’s graduation celebration.

Upon graduating from high school Terrence enrolled at Simpson University in San Francisco where he received a B.A. in Oral Communications in 1984. He has received two Honorary Doctorates in Theology and Education from Faith Grant College in Alabama and earned a Masters in Ministry degree from Simpson University in Redding, Ca in 2006.

Terrence has been a Christian radio personality and talk show host, youth pastor and senior pastor. He has also been employed in Corporate America working in Public Relations for both Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Chevron Corporation. He is currently the Senior Pastor of New Hope Church Community, a brand new church plant of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Vallejo, Ca. Upon leaving his pastorate of nine years in San Francisco to plant the church in Vallejo, Mayor Willie Brown, “Da Mayor,” of San Francisco officially declared October 28, 2001 to be “Terrence Nichols Day in San Francisco,” to honor his tireless work with the cities’ youth and the community. Upon moving to Vallejo in 2002, he has become a viable force behind the North Bay Minister’s Union’s Youth Summit as well as New Hope Church Community’s six-week, Summer Camp Hope!

Pastor Nichols serves on the National Board of Directors for the Christian and Missionary Alliance and is the national president of the Association of African American Churches for the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Under the auspices of the AAAC, he has led short-term missions trips to Haiti to train church workers and conduct citywide revivals and meet the felt needs of this desperately poor country. He serves on the Board of the Alliance Redwoods camp in Capetown, South Africa and has ministered as the camp preacher for several years. He has served on the District Executive Committee for the Central Pacific District of the C&MA and has served as a trustee for Simpson College in Redding, Ca for four years.

Writing has always been one of his passions. He has written several articles on diversity and multiethnic celebrations in corporate publications. In the religious arena he has had articles on growing multiethnic churches published in “Reconcilers Magazine” and “The Alliance Life.” God has blessed Him to be able to pastor all ethnicities and has assailed him as a requested speaker for Asian, Hispanic, Filipino churches throughout the country. He enjoys poetry and basketball as well as songwriting and composing. He and his wife have been married for 18 years and have two daughters, Jessica and Chelsea. His proudest accomplishment is that his family loves the Lord and lives for Jesus.

The Lord has blessed him to travel extensively throughout the country as a revivalist, camp speaker and conference speaker. He recently was the finale speaker for Urbana ’06, preaching to over 22,000 young people around the world and sharing the stage with dynamic speakers such as Ray Bakke, Brenda Salter-McNeil and Rick Warren.
